J C Manson FrazierFLORENCE -- Funeral service for Mr. J C Manson Frazier will be conducted 12 Noon Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Bethel Apostolic Church, 1200 N. Irby St. Florence, SC. Interment will follow in Bethel Apostolic Church Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.J C Manson Frazier was born March 15, 1933 in Florence County. The son of the late Manson Frazier and Jessie Mae Gee. He died on August 24, 2017. J C attended the public schools of Florence County. He was united in holy matrimony to Gloria Frazier for 28 years. J C was a very talented mechanic and faithful member of Bethel Apostolic Church until his health declined. J C was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Ernest Frazier.Survivors include his wife, Gloria Frazier; eight children; four step children; eighteen grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; six sister-in-laws; one brother-in-law; a special friend; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.The family will receive friends at 827A E. He was 85 years old.He was born in Astoria, NY and in 1946 his family moved to Winthrop. He loved his adopted Winthrop home and Cape Cod. He served in the US Air Force National Guard while attending Northeastern University. Upon graduation in 1956, he joined the Navy and became a naval flight officer, retiring in 1983 with the rank of Commander. He was a Navy man to his core. Following his retirement, he joined Grumman Data Systems as Marketing Director focusingon Navy and Marine command and control systems.He was predeceased by his father andmother, Thomas and Stavroula Karnakis, brother, Louis and sister, Helen Vasilos. He is survivedby his wife, Nancy, his brother, Andrew and by many nieces and nephews.A divine liturgy will be held at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, Massachusetts Ave., NW Washington DC on Tuesday, September 19 at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Sophia OrthodoxCathedral or the charity of your choice.
